MOTORCYCLE - BRIEF
Choosing the right insurance policy is much like choosing the right bike. You
want it to fit your needs and lifestyle, but at the same time be within your
budget. Although most states require you to carry a minimum amount of liability
coverage, other types of coverage are usually optional.
Many factors can play a role in determining what your insurance costs will be,
such as being a graduate of a rider-training course, your age, your driving
record, where you live and the type of motorcycle you own.
MOTORCYCLE - COVERAGES
- Liability Insurance (Be sure to ask your agent whether your policy covers injuries to your passengers. Some states require it, but others don't. Also ask your agent about the amount of coverage you need. Some states have a minimum required level of coverage, but you may need more to protect you and your assets).
- Collision Insurance (If you are making monthly payments for your motorcycle, your lender will require collision coverage).
- Comprehensive Insurance (Comprehensive coverage also carries a deductible).
- Uninsured Motorist ( Be sure check with your agent to see if property damage is included in your uninsured motorist coverage. If it doesn't, you can purchase it separately).
- Underinsured Motorist (The underinsured motorist coverage will pick up any excess not covered by the underinsured driver's policy).
